First obtain a working regular Android export. OpenXR additionally requires the headset runtime, compatible loader and, where required, its vendor plugin. Android support does not establish support for every headset.

Configure

  1. Create a separate Android XR preset, retaining a regular preset for comparison.
  2. Enable OpenXR for the project and select xr_features/xr_mode=OpenXR in the export preset. The exporter passes --xr_mode_openxr; regular mode passes --xr_mode_regular, so preset selection matters.
  3. Include dependencies/manifest and device settings required by the particular XR plugin. Do not guess flags from another headset.
  4. Export for the device ABI and install on the headset. Confirm OpenXR instance/session creation in the log, not merely APK installation.
  5. Check stereo, head pose, controller action bindings, pause/resume and permissions. For MR, check passthrough and its permissions separately.

Missing image or controls

APK installation establishes packaging only. No session: inspect runtime, loader, extensions and preset. No tracking: inspect device support/permissions. No buttons: inspect action map and interaction profile. Capture failures through Android logs.

Do not judge comfort from editor FPS: measure frame time on the headset. No export or physical XR-device execution was performed here.
