Editor interface: where to do what
Find objects, resources, properties, output and the right run mode without touring every panel.
Choose the task
| Task | Location |
|---|---|
| Add, select or rearrange an Entity | Open document hierarchy |
| Change transform, mesh, material or script properties | Selected object's Inspector |
| Find a file or drag a resource into the document | Content panel, Ctrl + Space |
| Place objects in 2D or 3D | 2D or 3D workspace; Ctrl + F1 / Ctrl + F2 |
Read ReckfellApi.Print() or launch messages | Console, Alt + O |
| Find a C# error or breakpoint stop | C# build tools and debugger |
| Bind a keyboard/gamepad action | Project → Project Settings → Input Map |
Panels can be moved and docked. Use their names and purpose; a saved layout can differ from the standard workspace.
Open the right document
A new project receives Main.rprefab with an Entity3D root and assigns it as the main document. This empty root draws nothing by itself: add objects and an active camera for a 3D test. Create and run a visible object.
Use File → Create Prefab… and .rprefab for a reusable part. Use File → Create Scene… and .rscene for an independent level. An open document does not necessarily participate in the running project.
Run the intended target
| Task | Default Windows command |
|---|---|
| Test the currently open document | Main Play button or F6 |
| Run the project's main document | Menu beside Play → Run Project (Main Scene) or F5 |
| Choose another document to run | Run Specific Scene… or Ctrl + Shift + F5 |
| Stop the game | Stop button or F8 |
Save changes before running. After editing C#, wait for a successful build. If the wrong level starts, check the selected command and project main document. These are standard shortcuts; remapped keys depend on editor settings.
Inspector and shared resources
Selecting an Entity shows its properties. Selecting a nested material or mesh switches Inspector to that resource. If material settings appear instead of object position, select the Entity in the hierarchy again.
A MeshInstance3D without a Mesh draws nothing; a Sprite2D without a Texture shows no image. Selecting an object does not make it the game camera: 3D uses an active Camera3D in the running hierarchy. Editing a shared material can affect several objects; create a separate resource copy for independent settings.
Local and Remote
Local shows the edited document. During play, Remote shows the running game's Entities, including those created by code. Remote edits help diagnosis but are not written to the source document automatically.
If an object exists in Local but not the game, first check the launched document and creation/deletion code. If a value reverts after restarting, set it in Local and save the document or change the code that assigns it.
Restore a missing panel
Open a hidden panel through Window → Panels. Ctrl + Space also opens Content; Alt + O opens Console. Check the selected 2D / 3D workspace and open document.
Find layouts in Window → Workspaces. Restore Standard Workspace restores standard panel placement. Game settings live separately in Project Settings; editor theme, UI scale and shortcuts are in Editor Settings.
