RF0402: GlobalClass must not be generic

The editor needs a concrete global type; an open generic class is not one.

On this page

For a C# project using Reckfell.NET.Sdk 1.0.0. Fix the first build error first: later messages may be a consequence.

Cause

The editor needs a concrete global type; an open generic class is not one.

Fix

Register a concrete nongeneric class. A generic helper can remain unregistered; the attribute does not create a shared instance.

Failing example

Save the file in a test C# project and run dotnet build. This version intentionally fails to build.

SettingsRF0402.cs
C#
using Reckfell;

namespace DiagnosticExamples.RF0402;

[GlobalClass] public partial class SettingsRF0402<T> : Resource {}

Expected messages: RF0402.

Working version

Replace the failing version with these files; do not keep both declarations in the project.

SettingsRF0402.cs
C#
using Reckfell;

namespace DiagnosticExamples.RF0402;

[GlobalClass] public partial class SettingsRF0402 : Resource { [Export] public int Value { get; set; } = 7; }

Result

The concrete SettingsRF0402 can be created as a Resource; Value equals 7.

Keep the exact example filename and rebuild. GlobalClass registers an editor type; it does not create a singleton. Check the editor type dialog after a successful build and project refresh.
