Setting up the 2D project
A 640 × 360 window, physical key bindings, C# and the exact prototype file structure.
Ready-made starting point
The project archive includes window settings, input actions, three prefabs and the main level. Import project.reckfell through the installed Reckfell 1.0.0 project manager. Extract the entire archive into its own writable folder first.
The editor from the complete distribution locates its adjacent .NET SDK and NuGet packages. Choose Build Project / Alt + B. After a successful build, F5 opens Levels/Arena.rscene.
Manual assembly
Create a project named DodgePrototype, select Compatibility and use this structure:
DodgePrototype/
├── project.reckfell
├── DodgePrototype.csproj
├── NuGet.Config
├── Levels/Arena.rscene
├── Prefabs/Player.rprefab
├── Prefabs/Enemy.rprefab
├── Prefabs/Hud.rprefab
└── Scripts/
├── DodgePlayer.cs
├── DodgeEnemy.cs
├── DodgeGame.cs
└── DodgeHud.csGenerate the C# solution through the editor. It needs Reckfell.NET.Sdk/1.0.0 and net10.0; do not substitute an arbitrary system project's SDK. The four scripts depend on one another, so add all of them before the full build.
In Project → Project Settings → Display → Window, set viewport width to 640, height to 360, and disable Resizable. The player script uses these fixed bounds. The project manager's initial Main.rprefab is not this example's level: save a new level as Levels/Arena.rscene and assign asset://Levels/Arena.rscene under Project Settings → Application → Run → Main Scene. A new project may already have Main.rprefab assigned; F5 need not ask for another path.
Input actions
Add these in Project Settings → Input Map:
| Action | Physical keys |
|---|---|
move_left | A, Left Arrow |
move_right | D, Right Arrow |
move_up | W, Up Arrow |
move_down | S, Down Arrow |
Choose physical key positions for letters so controls keep their layout positions on another keyboard layout. Action names must match the code exactly. Add both bindings to every action rather than merely creating an empty action entry.
Build failure before launch
If the SDK package is missing, check extraction and the dotnet and NuGet folders beside the editor. A separately opened terminal does not inherit the editor's environment: set RECKFELL_NUGET_SOURCE to that NuGet folder's absolute path and use the supplied dotnet.exe. Do not download an unrelated similarly named SDK.
Continue with player body and shape. See C# troubleshooting.
